Milan experienced a decline of 0.9%, mirroring the negative performance of other European stock exchanges such as Paris, which fell by 1.6%. According to ANSA, sales impacted shares of Unicredit, Banco BPM, and MPS, while STM performed positively, partly thanks to Nvidia.
In previous sessions, Milan saw a 1% increase driven by banking stocks, with gains for Mediobanca and Unipol, while uncertainties surrounded Generali and Leonardo. Essilux gained 3% after announcing a new buyback.
Market performance is influenced by anticipation for the speech of Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium, scheduled for this afternoon. Yesterday, Milan also registered an increase of 0.8% as gas prices continued to stabilize around 70 euros per megawatt hour.
