In Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, around 10,000 people demonstrated for greater climate protection on Sunday. The event took place just three weeks before the upcoming parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for September 11, 2022.

The demonstrators called for greater political accountability for climate protection measures. According to eyewitnesses, participants made it clear that, in their view, the current political landscape is insufficiently responding to the challenges of climate change.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg was also part of the rally and argued that none of the current parties proposed policies that sufficiently addressed the scientific recommendations for combating the climate crisis. Her criticism was aimed at the fact that political measures lacked the necessary scope to effectively combat climate change.

Thunberg expressed concern that politicians' ongoing inaction on climate issues could lead to an inevitable collapse of systems. She emphasized that society is already experiencing the effects of climate change and must urgently take action.

In addition to Thunberg, many other activists and citizens participated in the demonstration to voice their dissatisfaction with the government's previous lax measures and to underscore the urgency of climate protection.

The event was observed by journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP), who documented the strong turnout and the determined expression of the demonstrators' demands. The large number of participants reflects a growing awareness and increased mobilization within Swedish society.
