A collision between a minivan and a trailer resulted in a tragic toll of 13 dead in the Pulpera area of the Espinar province in the Cusco region, according to reports from the National Police of Peru.
The accident occurred when the trailer, apparently stalled due to mechanical failures, was struck by the minivan carrying passengers.
In addition to the deceased, six people survived the incident, including one man and five women, who were assisted by police officers and taken to Espinar Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Reports indicate that the conditions of the road and the state of the cargo vehicle are being investigated to determine the causes of the accident.
This incident has caused shock in the region and has led authorities to strengthen road safety measures on highways.
