The flood that hit the districts of Nuwakot and Dhading in Nepal has caused at least 165 deaths and 468 missing, according to reports from 'la Repubblica'. The disaster was triggered by an ice collapse and manifested through waves reaching six meters high, devastating villages in the area.

Rescue operations have been intensified in the district of Rasuwa, as reported by the ANSA news agency, while various sources indicate a rising number of casualties. Sky TG24 initially estimated that the death toll could rise to nearly 200, with almost 600 people declared missing.

In this context, up to 90 Italians are reported to be registered in Tibet and Nepal, but two of them have been confirmed to be in good condition. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has assured that the nationals are being assisted by Italian diplomacy and will be helped to return when appropriate.

The tragedy has also drawn international attention, with messages of solidarity coming in from various countries. The aftermath of the flooding has been described as devastating, with houses and bridges destroyed, leaving the terrain in a state of mud and destruction.

The CNR has warned that such extreme events may be linked to adverse weather conditions exacerbated by an earthquake that occurred in the high mountains along the Nepal-Tibet border. The situation remains critical, with uncertainties regarding any further discoveries about the missing and ongoing rescue efforts.
