A serious railway accident occurred in Toledo, where two high-speed trains, a Renfe AVE and an Iryo, collided at high speed near the Urda station. The collision has left at least 68 people dead and 53 injured, some of them in serious condition, according to reports.

The incident happened when one of the trains was stationary, and reportedly, the emergency systems that could have prevented the collision were not activated, leading to criticisms of railway traffic management. The Spanish Minister of Transport mentioned that there was 'a problem with computer communication' at the control center.

Following the disaster, emergency services quickly mobilized to assist the victims and evacuate trapped passengers. Hospitals in Castilla-La Mancha have started receiving the injured, and a support center for the victims' families has been set up at Atocha station, where psychological assistance is being offered.

Traffic on the high-speed Madrid-Andalusia line has been suspended due to the severity of the accident. Adif, the infrastructure manager in Spain, announced the incident on its social media and is collaborating in the investigation and rescue efforts.

The train drivers' union has decided to continue with the strike called at Renfe, demanding more effective safety measures following this tragic event. At the same time, an investigation is underway into the possibility of Argentine citizens being among the victims, raising concern in the community.

This marks the second fatal accident involving high-speed trains this year. Relevant investigations continue to clarify the causes of the collision and improve safety on the national railway network.
