US President Donald Trump is currently overseeing the construction of a helicopter pad on the grounds of the White House. The new helipad is set to alter the appearance of the official residence and has been built on the south side of the grounds. Trump told reporters that the new pad is necessary because modern helicopters cannot land on the existing lawn area.

Older helicopter models designed for service at the White House have been in use until now. The new landing area will feature a granite surface to allow for safe landings of the new models.

The decision to build the helicopter pad is part of a series of construction changes initiated by Trump during his time in office. It has also been reported that Trump personally inspected the construction site on the south side of the building.

This construction measure comes at a time when Trump continues to be prominent in the media and has numerous public appearances. The helicopter pad is expected not only to expand landing options but also to modernize the current appearance of the White House.
