Trump imposes 100% tariffs on certain drone imports

Donald Trump has signed an order instituting 100% tariffs on the import of certain drones and their components into the United States. This was announced on the White House website. The decision also applies to products from countries deemed allies of the U.S.

The President justified the measure by citing a threat to national security posed by excessive dependence on foreign suppliers of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). In particular, drones considered especially important for national security are affected by the new tariffs.

The increase in tariffs comes at a time when the U.S. is looking to rely more on its own manufacturing capabilities to counteract threatening dependencies.
