US President Donald Trump reiterated his threat to destroy all ships and boats laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz in a statement on the Truth Social platform on Tuesday. Trump emphasized a "zero tolerance" policy regarding the mining of the strategically important waterway.

This threat comes after the US announced a massive expansion of sanctions against Iran. Trump had already made similar threats in mid-April, targeting Iran's military activities.

For its part, Iran has dismissed the US claims about mine removal in the Strait of Hormuz as "propaganda deception." Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated on Wednesday that his country would target US mine-sweeping vessels if they entered the affected area.

In the same press release, Trump stated that according to the US Navy, "all mines have been removed and/or destroyed in the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz." This assertion contradicts claims from Tehran.

Thus, tensions between the US and Iran continue to rise, with both countries firmly holding their respective positions against the backdrop of a deteriorating political situation and confrontation in the Middle East. The rhetoric from both sides highlights the entrenched conflict and the challenges involved in de-escalating the dispute.

The reactions of the international community to the mutual threats and the increased military presence in the region remain to be seen. Numerous countries are monitoring developments in the Strait of Hormuz, which is of immense importance to global trade.
