Trump views Iran diplomacy as a chess game

US President Donald Trump has commented on the current situation in Iran regarding the new conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz. Despite these new demands, he remains demonstratively calm and likens diplomacy to a game of chess.

Trump stated that the US is currently not paying much attention to the issue of Iran. "We are only negotiating halfheartedly with them," he told the news portal Axios on Sunday. This statement underscores his wait-and-see attitude on the matter.

Iran has demanded concessions from the US in connection with the reopening of the vital waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical sea route for global oil trade.

In his remarks, Trump referred to Iran's economic difficulties. He identified high inflation as a central problem putting pressure on the Iranian government and possibly influencing the negotiations.

Furthermore, Trump added, "It will work out. It always works out." This comment suggests he sees a resolution to the conflict as likely, although he did not elaborate on specific steps.
