The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced plans to acquire dog-like robots. According to procurement documents, the agency plans to spend up to two million dollars on this initiative.
The robots come from the company Boston Dynamics. This technology-driven firm could be awarded the contract later this year.
The deployment of these robotic dogs is intended to support ICE's deportation operations. The agency views the technology as a means to enhance its operational efficiency.
However, the decision to use robots for this purpose has faced criticism. It remains unclear how exactly these robots will be integrated into existing operations.
