The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), together with 22 states, has filed a lawsuit against online retailer Amazon. The accusation is that Amazon artificially inflated advertising prices in auctions over a span of more than seven years.
According to the agency, Amazon is believed to have generated tens of billions of dollars through these practices. The lawsuit was published in connection with court documents that are expected to provide further details on the allegations.
Attorneys General from 22 US states are supporting the lawsuit, accusing Amazon of creating unfair competition through its pricing tactics. The FTC emphasizes that such actions violate market fairness.
