US Ambassador to Turkiye, Tom Barrack, stated that the intelligence which led to the Israeli airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur Military Air Base in Syria was incorrect. This comment came after the attack occurred earlier in the week. Barrack, who is also the special envoy for Syria and Iraq, mentioned on social media that he was unaware of the reasons behind the airstrike, although he indicated he could share the explanations provided to him.

The Abu al-Duhur Military Air Base is located in the eastern Idlib province of Syria and has been described as abandoned. Reports noted that Israel did not notify either the United States or Turkey prior to executing the strike.

In a separate incident, Syrian authorities condemned an Israeli drone strike on what they termed a 'civilian vehicle' in southwestern Syria, describing the act as a clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law.

Following these events, the Syrian government reiterated its position by stating that recent Israeli strikes, including one near Damascus, constitute a blatant breach of international legal norms. This statement further illustrates the ongoing tensions related to military operations in the region.

Earlier reports suggested that the Israeli strike on the military airbase was part of broader operations near the Turkish border, amidst heightened concerns from neighboring countries regarding sovereignty and security.
