Coach Vasco Matos has officially been removed from his position at Estoril Praia, according to a statement released by the club on Thursday afternoon. The decision was made amid negotiations to terminate his contract, which was set to run until 2028.

After eight matches in the Primeira Liga, Estoril finds itself in last place on the table, with two draws and six losses. This critical situation in the team’s performance led the club to consider changes in its technical structure.

This marks the third instance of what is referred to as a 'psychological whip' in the current season of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, reflecting the difficulties faced by various teams and coaches.

Matos had taken on the role of head coach at Estoril Praia before the start of the season, but his tenure with the team was marked by unsatisfactory results that did not meet expectations.

The departure of Vasco Matos now raises questions about who will take over the leadership of the team going forward in the competition, as well as Estoril’s strategies to turn around its poor form.

While announcing the coach's departure, Estoril has yet to provide information on potential candidates for his replacement.
