FC Bayern Munich begins its DFB-Pokal campaign today against the second-division newcomer VfL Osnabrück. The match will be broadcast on free TV as well as streamed online, with transmission details available.

Osnabrück heads into the game with great confidence, as it will be held in their home arena. The VfL fans are rallying behind their team, which is hoping for a sensation and eyeing the opportunity to eliminate the record champions from the tournament.

Bayern Munich travels to Osnabrück as the clear favorite, but they have historically faced difficulties against the Lower Saxony club in the cup. This past could hold potential for surprises.

A memorable event in the cup’s history occurred in 1978 when VfL Osnabrück knocked FC Bayern out of the DFB-Pokal. Back then, goalkeeper Rolf Meyer recalled the surprising encounter. It remains to be seen if a similar story will unfold today.
