Culture Minister Wolfram Weimer is the first member of the federal government to call for the resignation of FIFA president Gianni Infantino. Weimer expressed his views to the German Press Agency, criticizing Infantino's planned initiatives, which he believes would harm global football.

In his statement, Weimer emphasized that football is a cultural asset for everyone and should not be treated as a speculative commodity for a few. This perspective is reflected in his demand that the German Football Association (DFB) should actively resist Infantino's measures.

Simultaneously, the president of the Bavarian Football Association, Bernd Schultz, also deemed Infantino's resignation necessary. He advocated for a restructuring within FIFA to better address the challenges in international football.
