Wildfire near Hürtgenwald remains uncontrolled, evacuation continues

The wildfire in the North Rhine-Westphalian municipality of Hürtgenwald has not spread further since the previous day; however, the fire remains uncontrolled. Approximately 2,000 residents of the evacuated district of Gey are unable to return to their homes, according to reports.
The Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Wüst, expressed optimism during a visit to the municipality, stating that the fire may soon be brought under control. He praised the efforts of hundreds of security personnel and volunteers who continue to battle the flames.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Agriculture, Gorißen, urged citizens to avoid entering forests due to the ongoing dryness. She pointed out that nearly all wildfires are caused by human error.
About 1,400 emergency responders are mobilized in the Düren district to manage the situation. Firefighters and additional aid workers are working intensively to combat the fire and prevent its spread.
Despite the challenges, there is a coordinated effort to get the flames under control and ensure the safety of residents. The pressure on emergency personnel remains high, as weather conditions may complicate the situation further.
