In their opening match of the 2. Bundesliga, VfL Wolfsburg managed only a 0-0 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This match marked the beginning of Wolfsburg's return to the second tier after the club was relegated last season.

Despite being the favorites, the team under coach Christian Strobl could not find the back of the net. Wolfsburg's performance was perceived as disappointing, as they had aimed for much more.

The club is among the candidates for promotion this season. However, the scoreless draw highlights that the path back to the Bundesliga may be more difficult than expected.

While fans had hoped for a successful start to the season, Wolfsburg's local rival achieved a significantly better result. It remains to be seen how the team will develop throughout the season.
