The Department of Care has suspended the Onze Lieve Vrouw Onbevlekt (OLVO) care home in Knokke-Heist for a period of six months. This decision was made after irregularities were again found during a recent inspection.

The care home has been under increased supervision since May of last year and, as a result, cannot take in new residents during this suspension. This follows earlier issues faced by the institution, which led to intensified monitoring.

Spokesperson Joris Moonens from the Department of Care has indicated that more efforts are expected from the care institution to meet the required standards.

It is still unknown when the suspension of the institution will be lifted or what specific measures will be taken to improve the situation.
