Yemeni Armed Forces Launch Strikes on Houthi Targets Amid Ongoing Conflict
Yemeni Armed Forces reported airstrikes against Houthi positions in various regions, including the capital Sana'a, intensifying the ongoing conflict.

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Saturday that they conducted airstrikes targeting military positions held by the Houthis in the capital Sana'a. The forces claimed that these strikes were part of their operations against what they described as legitimate military targets.
According to military spokesman Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili, the recent operations extended beyond Sana'a to include assaults in the northwestern governorate of Saada and the southwestern region of Taiz. These strikes mark an escalation in hostilities within the protracted civil war in Yemen.
In addition to the airstrikes, the Yemeni forces reported repelling significant assaults from the Iran-backed Houthis in Taiz. These developments have led to some of the most intense fighting observed in the ongoing conflict, which has persisted for over 12 years.

The Yemeni Armed Forces characterized their recent military actions as crucial to neutralizing threats posed by the Houthis. They reported inflicting considerable losses on Houthi fighters, asserting that their operations had neutralized 260 fighters and destroyed numerous military vehicles as part of a broader offensive.
The renewed fighting comes after a period of relative calm in the region, which has been marked by increasing tensions. The recent strikes appear to indicate a deteriorating security situation amid ongoing hostilities and regional power dynamics.
International attention is also focused on the related geopolitical situation involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Parliament Speaker has stated that the strait will not reopen until specified conditions are addressed, and has indicated dissatisfaction with the U.S. position on negotiations surrounding these issues.
