Yolanda Díaz announces her candidacy to lead the ILO

Yolanda Díaz has officially submitted her candidacy for the position of Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). According to reports from several media outlets, including Europa Press, her nomination was confirmed on Friday and had previously been anticipated in the newspaper Cinco Días.

If elected, Díaz would be the first Spanish and the first woman to hold this position, marking a significant milestone in the history of the organization. Her proposal includes a 'Global Charter of Labor Rights'.

Díaz joins the race against the current ILO Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, who has held the position since 2022. The election results will be announced in mid-November.
