2026 by-elections expected to cost over $24 million
The 2026 by-elections, three of which have already taken place, could cost over $24 million, according to Elections Canada.
According to an estimate from Elections Canada, the by-elections planned this year to replace outgoing MPs are expected to cost taxpayers over $24 million.
So far, three votes have already been held, while three more are scheduled for August 31. Additional elections may be added, bringing the total to 12 votes in the coming months.
