The Italian government has presented the Document of Budgetary Planning (DPB) for 2027, which outlines a budget maneuver of €23.5 billion. Among the main sources of funding are €5 billion from the banking and insurance sector aimed at supporting measures for families and welfare.

However, financial institutions have indicated that the details of this measure have not been agreed upon. Credit institutions expressed surprise at the requested contribution, stating that it had not been negotiated beforehand.

The DPB indicates a projected deficit of 3.4%, with ongoing discussions with Brussels regarding the clause for defense and energy. This document is now under review by the European Commission.

In addition to contributions from banks, the government also plans cuts to ministries as part of the necessary funding to implement the maneuver. The planned interventions focus on resources particularly aimed at families and businesses.

Government sources have specified that the plan submits an initial list of measures for the Budget Law, including provisions aimed at improving the economic conditions of the affected sectors.

The debate surrounding the Budget Law, especially concerning the issue of funding and the contribution from banks, remains open, as detailed responses from the involved institutions are awaited.
