At least nine dead and several injured in hotel fire in Kolkata

A fire at a hotel in central Kolkata, India, resulted in at least nine deaths, including a child, and several injuries. According to the director of the West Bengal Fire Services, rescue operations were hampered by the thick smoke generated during the fire.

Reports indicate that around 60 guests were in the building when the flames broke out. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, which was declared in the early morning hours.
