The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has passed a resolution addressing the Congress party's decision to sing only two stanzas of the national song Vande Mataram. The BJP regards this decision as a reduction of the song's significance and legacy, which should not be subject to modern political considerations, as stated in their resolution.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has publicly labeled the Congress Working Committee's resolution regarding Vande Mataram as anti-national. The BJP asserts that the full rendition of Vande Mataram is essential in preserving the song's honor and national character.

Additionally, the BJP has announced plans for a nationwide campaign to promote the history, meaning, and significance of Vande Mataram across India. This effort is intended to educate the public on the song's importance in the national consciousness.

The recent developments have reignited discussions around the song's legacy in India, particularly in light of its long history and its role in the independence movement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously launched a year-long commemoration for Vande Mataram marking its 150th anniversary, set for November 7, 2025.

In December, special discussions regarding Vande Mataram were held in both Houses of Parliament, during which the Congress party's past decisions relating to the song were analyzed.
