The European Commission has given the green light for support from the Regional Government of the Azores aimed at farmers, which was established in April under the Temporary Framework for State Aid in response to the Middle East crisis. This support, designed to mitigate the economic impacts in the region, was approved by the local government in August and can benefit each business with a maximum amount of €50,000.

In addition, an additional mobilization of €10 million has been announced to support farmers who were not covered by previous notices. This second round of financial support, of the same amount previously made available, is specifically intended for localities in the region facing difficulties, allowing investments of up to €400,000.

The measure aimed at the farmers of the Azores and the importance of mobilizing new funds reflect the regional government's concern about ensuring the sustainability of the agricultural sector. This arises in a context where the needs of regional farmers are increasing due to various economic and environmental factors.

According to various sources, the financial assistance is considered crucial for maintaining agricultural production in the region, especially in times of economic uncertainty. Local producers have faced significant challenges, and the financial support emerges as a necessary relief measure.

In a statement, the Government of the Azores stated that the total support of €1.25 million will allow the continuation of other support measures, reflecting a continuous effort to protect and promote the agriculture of the region. This continuity suggests that the government is attentive to the needs of farmers and prepared to respond adequately.

The combination of these supports may contribute to the stability of the agricultural sector in the Azores. The capacity for investment and financial assistance are factors that directly influence the economic viability of local farmers, thereby ensuring the sustainability of a sector essential to the region's economy.
