Cascais Miragem Hotel is moving forward with collective layoffs of over 140 workers for renovations that will last at least two years.

Cascais Miragem Hotel will carry out a collective layoff affecting over 140 permanent employees, according to information from the Union of Workers in the Hotel, Tourism, Restaurant and Similar Industries of the South. In addition to the permanent staff, 35 fixed-term workers are also included, totaling nearly 200 departures as reported by some sources.
The hotel, classified as a five-star establishment, will undergo a major renovation expected to last at least two years. The investment in the renovation project is reported to be 80 million euros according to some sources, while others indicate a figure that could reach 205 million euros, resulting in discrepancies in the information.
The union indicated that the rules related to collective layoffs are not being followed, viewing the measure as unacceptable.
