Catania paralyzed due to Etna eruption: flights suspended until tomorrow
A red alert is in effect as Mount Etna erupts, causing flight cancellations in Catania until tomorrow.

An eruption of Mount Etna has led to the closure of Catania airport, with flights suspended until 11 AM tomorrow. Departures have been redirected to other Sicilian airports due to a new eruptive vent that opened overnight.
Currently, lava is flowing in the Valle del Leone and Valle del Bove, and a cloud of ash is moving south/southwest. The volcanic activity is being monitored using visible and thermal surveillance cameras, along with observations from personnel at INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology).
