Central Bank decrees extrajudicial liquidation of Simpala
Brazil's Central Bank announced the extrajudicial liquidation of two companies in the Simpala group, located in Porto Alegre.
The Central Bank of Brazil (BC) has decided to decree the extrajudicial liquidation of Simpala Lançadora e Administradora de Consórcios and Simpala S.A. Crédito, Financiamento e Investimento. Both institutions are based in Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Extrajudicial liquidation occurs when an institution is unable to continue operating, leading to its closure under the supervision of the BC. With this decision, the Central Bank aims to minimize risks and protect affected creditors and consumers.
Following the announcement of the liquidation, the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) issued guidance for approximately 21,000 creditors of Simpala. The FGC stated that payments for guarantees have not yet begun and will occur only after the liquidator appointed by the BC completes the gathering of creditor information.
The liquidation process is a complex stage that requires the organization of various data before payments can be made. The liquidator will be responsible for managing the liquidation and conveying necessary information to creditors.
