Voters in the Chicoutimi–Le Fjord riding are heading to the polls this Monday to choose a candidate to replace Richard Martel, who has stepped down from his position.
Polling stations, open until 9:30 PM, are welcoming approximately 75,000 voters from the Saguenay region.
This by-election takes place against a backdrop of trade tensions, particularly following the failure of negotiations with Washington, which occurred less than two weeks before the vote.
Tight results are expected, according to local analyses, indicating an intense competition among the candidates.
