China on highest alert as Typhoon Dolphin approaches
Chinese authorities have raised the alert level and taken safety measures as Typhoon Dolphin approaches the country's eastern coast.
Authorities in eastern China have increased the emergency response level to red alert, the highest level, due to the approach of Typhoon Dolphin. This decision was made in light of weather forecasts indicating that the typhoon could hit the coast on the night of Sunday, August 9, 2026.
With the arrival of the typhoon, heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected, prompting authorities to prepare for the risk of flooding and landslides in several areas of the eastern part of the country.
As part of the safety measures, many schools and tourist sites have been closed, and operations at several transportation services have been suspended. Thousands of flights have been canceled, and rail services have been halted to ensure the safety of the population.
Additionally, hundreds of thousands of people are being evacuated from high-risk areas. The authorities' preparations include measures to minimize the impact of the typhoon on coastal communities and local infrastructure.
The Typhoon Dolphin has already caused disruptions in maritime traffic, especially at the National Central Fishing Port of Huangqi in Fujian Province, where docked vessels are being evacuated as a precaution.
