Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and VfL Wolfsburg have reached an agreement to terminate the player's contract. This information was announced by the club on Wednesday, without specifying the financial details of the agreement. Eriksen, 34, had signed a contract that extended until June 2027, but his continuation was affected by recent health issues.

Eriksen stopped playing in June when he collapsed during a friendly match for the Danish national team against Ukraine. This was the second incident of collapse that the player has experienced during his career. Since that incident, Eriksen has not participated in any matches.

After the collapse, Eriksen decided to return to Denmark to be closer to his family and follow a rehabilitation program. The player had faced a similar situation in the past during Euro 2020 when he suffered a cardiac arrest during a game.

The termination of the contract, by mutual agreement, marks the end of a short period in which Eriksen was at VfL Wolfsburg, and his departure was consensual between the parties. According to the club, the player expressed a desire to focus on his health and recovery.

The decision to leave Wolfsburg does not mean that Eriksen has ended his career as a player, although there is currently no clarity about his next steps and sporting future. Various sources have reported that he intends to continue his career, but the conditions for that remain unclear.

The player expressed satisfaction at having found a solution that benefits both parties. The termination of the contract comes at a delicate time for Eriksen, who has been focusing on his health and well-being in light of the challenges he has faced on the field.
