CIP and CTP call for urgent reform of Social Security
The presidents of CIP and CTP have urged for the acceleration of discussions on Social Security reform, warning against the influence of electoral tactics in the process.

The presidents of the Portuguese Business Confederation (CIP), Armindo Monteiro, and the Portuguese Tourism Confederation (CTP), Francisco Calheiros, today called for the urgent discussion of Social Security reform.
Armindo Monteiro stated that the reform should not be delayed based on electoral tactics and strategies. This request emerged during a meeting with political decision-makers, where Monteiro emphasized the importance of not wasting time on false issues.
Francisco Calheiros, for his part, highlighted the need to move forward with reforms without getting caught up in "clientelist fixations." Calheiros reiterated that reforms should proceed immediately, without further delays.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has long advocated for the urgency of reform, but government sources acknowledged that current political conditions are not favorable for implementing the necessary changes.
The tension between the demands of the business sector and the political realities surrounding Social Security raises questions about the viability of reform in the near future.
