Colombian government begins subsidy program for families affected by earthquake

On Tuesday, the President of Colombia announced a rental subsidy program aimed at families affected by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Monday, causing destruction in several regions.
According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the new official toll, released on Wednesday, indicates that at least 273 people have died and 3,755 have been injured as a result of the tremor. The number of affected municipalities has reached 403.
Authorities report that 287 people remain missing. Rescue teams are continuing their work in various areas, trying to locate the missing and provide assistance to victims.
In addition to government initiatives, CONMEBOL and the Colombian Football Federation have announced a donation of one million dollars for the reconstruction of areas devastated by the earthquake, as reported by local sources. This financial support aims to aid in the recovery of affected communities.
Colombian President Abelardo De la Calle did not provide further details on the implementation of the subsidies, as the country faces the task of addressing the damage and helping those who lost everything due to the natural disaster. The government emphasized that rescue and assistance operations remain the immediate priority.
