Commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Amatrice earthquake
Ceremonies took place in Amatrice and Arquata to remember the victims of the 2016 earthquake, attended by President Meloni and Cardinal Zuppi.

Last night, at 3:36 AM, Amatrice commemorated the tenth anniversary of the earthquake that devastated the city and also affected Arquata del Tronto and Accumoli in 2016. During the ceremony, 239 bell tolls were heard, one for each victim of the earthquake.
The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, announced her participation in the commemoration scheduled for the afternoon. Previously, she stated that reconstruction is not yet complete and emphasized the government's commitment to promoting progress in the revival of affected areas.
Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, president of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), celebrated a mass in the SAE area of Pescara del Tronto. During his speech, he urged the affected communities to transform their pain into a path of renewal.

At the various ceremonies, the families of the victims expressed their sorrow and frustration over the slow progress of reconstruction, asking for more concrete responses from politicians, beyond mere public appearances.
The commemorations included the reading of the victims' names, a moment that saw the participation of authorities and citizens in a sign of unity and respect for those who are no longer with us. An atmosphere of silence accompanied the celebrations, honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic event.
The day of the ceremonies was marked by a desire to not forget and to continue working together for the future of the communities affected by the earthquake, while the memory of the earthquake remains alive in the hearts of those present.
