At the Great Barrier Reef, one of the most famous coral reefs in the world, early positive developments regarding coral populations are being observed. Following years of extreme coral bleaching, clouds and rain during a late-arriving summer monsoon earlier this year provided much-needed cooling, leading to an improvement in the condition of some corals.

This recovery comes even as signs of coral bleaching have already been reported again in the northern and central parts of the reef, as experts noted in a recent study. Despite this positive news, the Great Barrier Reef continues to face pressure regarding the long-term health of the ecosystem.
