On Sunday, August 2, customs intercepted a quantity of 800 kilograms of cocaine at the port of Amsterdam. This occurred during a routine inspection of a container loaded onto a cargo ship.
According to various reports, the container originated from a ship coming from West Africa and was en route to the port of Antwerp. This ship was carrying cassava flour, in which the cocaine was well concealed.
The drug seizure was reported by multiple news sources, including De Telegraaf and NOS. Both sources confirm that the cocaine was discovered during the inspection.

West Africa is increasingly mentioned as a significant transit point for cocaine smugglers. In recent years, this route has gained popularity for smuggling cocaine from South America.
