The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that a deep depression over the southwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclone 'Murasu' on November 1. This cyclone is expected to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast, likely making landfall between Nellore and Narsapur on the night of November 2-3 as a severe cyclonic storm.

Wind speeds associated with Cyclone 'Murasu' are forecasted to reach 100 to 110 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 120 kilometers per hour. Local authorities have begun preparations, issuing alerts as heavy rainfall is anticipated in the region ahead of the cyclone's arrival.

In light of the impending cyclone, a red alert has been declared in five districts of Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, neighboring states, including southern Odisha, are on high alert to prepare for possible impacts from 'Murasu'.

As a precaution, public advisories have been released urging residents in identified hotspots to remain vigilant. Concerns have been raised particularly for districts such as Nellore and Prakasam, which are expected to be directly affected by the storm's trajectory.

In Telangana, an orange alert has been issued in six districts, while five others are under a yellow alert as the state braces for adverse weather conditions. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates.

Meanwhile, disruptions have already begun in travel plans, with eleven flights canceled at Chennai airport due to the unfolding weather situation. Authorities are coordinating responses to ensure safety and minimize disruptions as Cyclone 'Murasu' approaches.
