Death Toll Rises Amid Tropical Cyclones and Monsoon in the Philippines

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the combined impact of tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay, along with the enhanced southwest monsoon, has resulted in 21 fatalities and 14 injuries across the country. This information was reported on Thursday.
The NDRRMC noted that more than 3.7 million individuals have been affected by these weather events, leading to significant disruptions in various regions. Both cyclones have compounded the effects of the ongoing monsoon, exacerbating the challenges faced by communities.
In a previous report, the Police National Headquarters indicated that the death toll had reached 26. However, the NDRRMC's current figures remain at 21, showing discrepancies in the reported statistics.
