Delhi Metro Closes Six Stations Amid Opposition Protest Preparations
Six Delhi Metro stations will be closed until 4 pm due to a planned Congress protest march, with traffic restrictions also in effect.

On Monday, six stations of the Delhi Metro will remain closed from 6 am to 4 pm due to security concerns. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that stations including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Patel Chowk will not permit entry or exit during this period.
The closure coincides with a planned protest march by the Congress party to the Supreme Court. This demonstration is in response to a controversial revision of electoral rolls that has led to significant public unrest in Delhi.
Interchange facilities at the affected stations will still be available, as confirmed by the DMRC. Despite the station closures, commuters are advised that they can change lines at those stations without entering or exiting the metro system.

In addition to the metro station closures, traffic restrictions have been imposed in various areas, affecting over 20 stretches within the city. Police have been proactive in managing traffic to ensure safety during the protest march.
The unrest is reportedly tied to the Election Commission's recent actions, including the removal of approximately 130 million names from electoral rolls, leading to growing discontent among opposition parties.
As a result of the anticipated demonstrations, heightened security measures are also in place across Delhi, aiming to manage potential disruptions and maintain order during the protests.
