Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma Slaps Man During Road Inspection
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma's slap of a young man during a road inspection in Delhi has sparked controversy and political reactions.

During a recent road inspection in Tilak Nagar, Delhi, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma was captured on video slapping a young man identified as Sahib Singh. The incident reportedly escalated after Singh raised concerns about the road's poor condition, which led Verma to react violently, according to eyewitness accounts. Security personnel intervened as the confrontation unfolded, which has now drawn significant attention.
Following the altercation, Singh claimed that he was threatened by associates of Verma, stating that they warned him that they could kill him. Reports indicate that Singh has filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident, noting the involvement of associates who intimidated him after the slap.
Verma has faced backlash from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who released the footage of the incident and expressed outrage over the minister's actions. AAP leaders have called for Verma's arrest and accountability over the incident, highlighting the need for responsible behavior from public officials while on duty.

In response to the allegations, Verma accused the AAP of promoting the incident for political gain, specifically mentioning AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and allegations of corruption against him. Verma asserted that the confrontation was not only about the road condition and denied the claims that his actions were solely a response to Singh's questions.
Contradicting accounts have emerged regarding Singh’s background; it has been reported that he was previously out on bail related to an assault case involving a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sanitation worker. This detail adds further complexity to the situation surrounding the confrontation during the inspection.
As of now, Delhi Police have stated that no FIR has been registered specifically concerning the slap incident, despite the formal complaint lodged by Singh. The incident continues to be a topic of discussion in political circles and has raised questions about the conduct of public officials.
