Raghav Chadha Alleges Name Shift in Punjab Draft Electoral Rolls
Raghav Chadha claims political vendetta over his name being marked 'shifted' in Punjab's draft electoral roll, as the AAP government denies involvement in the matter.

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has alleged that his name has been marked as 'shifted' in the draft electoral roll of Punjab, claiming it is an act of political vendetta by the state government. Chadha, whose voter ID is registered in Mohali, Punjab, is currently seeking remedies during the ongoing claims and objections process related to the electoral roll adjustments. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published in October 2026.
In response to Chadha's claims, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government stated that the process is managed by the Election Commission and that they have no role in the marking of names on the electoral rolls. The government has distanced itself from the accusations made by Chadha, emphasizing the independent nature of the electoral roll process.
The conflict around the electoral rolls has escalated within the AAP, with Chadha calling out the party's handling of his voter registration. In a counter-response, the AAP has accused Chadha of attempting to have his voter registration transferred to Delhi through a backdated process, which indicates internal disputes within the party regarding electoral issues.

Additionally, the situation in Punjab has stirred other reactions as two-time MP Dharamvira Gandhi noted that his name was also missing from the draft electoral rolls after the Shift in Identification Review (SIR). Gandhi stated that he has raised objections and submitted the necessary documents to have his and his family's names restored in the final version of the electoral rolls.
The allegations from Chadha, coupled with the AAP's rebuttal and Gandhi's concerns, highlight the ongoing tensions related to the electoral roll revisions in Punjab. This situation underscores the complexities of voter registration in the context of political dynamics in the region.
