CJP and Allies Organize Mumbai Protest Demanding Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation
A coalition led by Abhijeet Dipke will protest in Mumbai today, seeking the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar due to alleged voter-roll irregularities.

Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), announced a protest in Mumbai to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration is set to take place today at 4 PM at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, and aims to address issues surrounding alleged irregularities in electoral rolls, particularly concerning mass deletions under the SIR (Simplified Identification Registration) process.
The protest has garnered support from various political entities, including the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), alongside the Congress party. Nana Patole, a Congress leader, emphasized the importance of transforming the protest into a wider people's movement rather than keeping it limited to political party affiliations.
CJP leaders highlighted that the ramifications of the alleged voter roll manipulations have impacted many citizens, prompting them to take to the streets. Dipke indicated that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, the protesters may escalate their demonstrations, potentially leading to further protests such as 'Jantar Mantar 2.0' scheduled for October 10.

Reports also noted that several prominent figures are expected to attend the protest, including veteran actress Shabana Azmi and singer Vishal Dadlani. Their participation aims to amplify the message regarding the need for fair electoral processes in the country.
In a related development, the CJP denied reports claiming that Dipke had been detained prior to the protests, labeling these assertions as false. The group reiterated its commitment to peacefully advocate for its demands and for the integrity of the electoral system.
This mobilization follows previous protests by the organization and reflects growing discontent regarding electoral practices. The CJP continues to call for accountability and transparency within the electoral commission as they prepare for today's demonstration.
