The draft electoral rolls for Karnataka were published recently, revealing that over 1.07 crore voters will be excluded from the updated lists. The total number of voters in the draft rolls stands at approximately 4.46 crore, indicating a substantial decline in the electorate.

Bengaluru, which previously had an electorate of over 1.03 crore, will see its rolls decrease to about 56.11 lakh voters. This marks a significant 42.5% reduction compared to previous lists, highlighting a major shift in voter registration in urban areas.

Additionally, in Shivamogga, 1.88 lakh voters were identified as 'ASDD' and 48,668 individuals are set to receive notices regarding discrepancies. A special campaign will be initiated to address the high numbers of absent, shifted, duplicate, or deceased names in the electoral rolls.
