Depression Bruna brings bad weather to Portugal and the Azores
The IPMA announced the arrival of depression Bruna to the mainland and has issued warnings for the Azores and Madeira, predicting heavy rain and wind.
The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has announced that depression Bruna will reach mainland Portugal starting Sunday. Bad weather is expected to persist until November 13, with continuous and intense rainfall, as well as wind gusts that could reach 70 kilometers per hour.
In addition to the mainland, depression Bruna is already affecting the Azores and Madeira, where yellow warnings have also been issued. In the Azores, the islands will face severe conditions, with forecasts of gusts reaching up to 152 km/h and waves potentially reaching 10 meters, according to a statement from the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
With the approach of the depression, several districts on the mainland are already under yellow warning. The warning, active since Friday, covers eight coastal districts, where periods of rain and thunderstorms are expected starting this afternoon.
According to reports, the depression is centered north of the Azores and will continue to influence the weather in the region. The IPMA predicts that the climatic instability, with strong maritime agitation, will affect not only the weather but also navigation and maritime transport in the area.
The warnings issued by the IPMA alert the public to the need for precautions, especially in coastal areas and regions affected by strong winds. The adverse conditions have led to the suspension of some inter-island trips in the archipelago.
In summary, the arrival of depression Bruna is causing a significant deterioration in weather conditions across various regions of Portugal, with bad weather alerts in effect for both the mainland and the Azores and Madeira.
