A fire was declared on Thursday in the Landes forest, burning 1,100 hectares according to reports. High temperatures that have dried out the region contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.

During the night, the fire was slowed by a drop in temperatures and increased humidity, but concerns remain about possible flare-ups with the 36 °C forecast for Friday afternoon.
