Fire in southern Rennes leads to evacuation of around 100 people
A forest fire in southern Rennes has burned over 200 hectares and necessitated the evacuation of nearly 100 people, according to officials.
A forest fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in the southern part of Rennes, in the municipality of Saint-Just, according to the Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture.
By Thursday morning, more than 200 hectares of woods, groves, and heathland had been engulfed by flames. Authorities stated that the fire is now under control but remains closely monitored.
Nearly 100 people were evacuated as a precaution due to the situation. No injuries have been reported to date.
