Drones spotted over military base in Mechernich
Two drones have been detected over a Bundeswehr location in the Eifel, near Mechernich. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
On the night from Thursday to Friday, two unmanned aerial vehicles were observed over a military base in Mechernich, where Patriot missile systems are maintained. This was reported by German media, including Tagesschau.
The incident followed a similar occurrence a few days earlier at Leipzig Airport, where drones were also seen. As a result of these sightings, the Feldjäger, the military police of the Bundeswehr, immediately initiated an investigation and transferred the case to the regular police.
German authorities have received multiple reports of drone activities in the past week, raising concerns about espionage and attempts at sabotage. The current situation is being investigated by the relevant agencies.
