The British airline Easyjet has been acquired by the American asset management firm Apollo Global Management for £5.7 billion, which amounts to approximately €6.7 billion. This transaction marks a significant event in the aviation sector.

Easyjet had been involved in a bidding war for some time, with the American investment firm Castlelake making a serious bid of £6.90 per share in May.

In July, Apollo entered the fray, offering £7.15 per share. This bid ultimately proved more successful and led to the current agreement between the parties.

The acquisition by Apollo signifies a new direction for Easyjet, which had been under pressure due to competition and market conditions. The previously mentioned bids were part of a broader movement in the aviation industry.
