Ebola: epidemic spreads to a sixth province in DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) declared its 17th outbreak of Ebola virus disease on May 15. According to the UN’s humanitarian chief, the outbreak has resulted in one death every 30 minutes.

Since the beginning of this outbreak, the situation has worsened with the virus extending into a sixth province of the country. This spread has raised concerns within the international community.
