The Minister of Education, Fernando Alexandre, criticized the secretary-general of the PS, accusing him of ignoring the problems affecting the education sector. During a press statement, Alexandre dismissed the idea that delays in student placements are an unprecedented phenomenon, stressing that this is a recurring issue that the PS has not adequately addressed.

Alexandre also held the PS responsible for the current school crisis, stating that the party has denied the teacher shortage over the years. According to the minister, this denial has contributed to the current scenario of lack of resources and vacancies in schools.

The PS responded quickly, with representatives arguing that late registrations are normal situations. However, they noted that this year there has been a lack of concern from the government regarding these delays, which exacerbates the situation.

Additionally, the PCP made statements on the matter, indicating that Alexandre has shown arrogance in his responses and is “passing the blame” for educational problems without accepting his responsibilities.

Luis Montenegro, in statements to another media outlet, called for urgency in clarifying the searches conducted by the Polícia Judiciária, but no details were provided regarding the relationship between these two issues.

The debate surrounding the situation in education continues to generate varied reactions, reflecting the political tension between the different parties involved, while the educational community awaits solutions to the problems affecting schools.
